I looked the other day at our local Cable company's offerings for cable internet and noticed they have a new package. It's 25Mbit/1Mbit, with an advertised data transfer cap of 150gb/mo that I've heard is currently unregulated/unmonitored. It costs $100CAD/mo ($85USD/mo). I've also heard there's all types of crafty things you can do with the Motorola SURFboard 5100 modem they give you.

Be nice to have this for leeching, and keep my 10Mbit symmetric fibre (with a puny 40gb cap) for QoS'd applications like my VoIP and midget porn.

I guess it'll have to wait until I'm re-employed, of course, but it's food for thought for now.

Christmas was good. I got everything I asked for :)

Came home shortly after opening presents to drop things off at home, and have a nice nap in my bed. Now I'm heading back up to the family's to have dinner.

DVD has been acquired. Found a Shoppers Drug Mart open (and it's 24 hours, too).

Meh, now comes the fun part.

So, Asterix is the anus of the world. I don't really want to dedicate a machine to run trixbox, just because I'm not really a fan of that kind of thing, and hardware is realestate ... which is slim pickin's for me. So, I'm gonna format the spare box in my closet, and use it as an asterisk box and build it from scratch. Trixbox just had too much crap, CRM and billing programs, etc. Muff that.

Over the last two days I've played so much wii, I think I'm officially wiitarded. We tried to buy an HDMI cable for the wii, but apparently one doesn't exist ... all that's available is conponent a/v, and that's not really that great. The video still sucks compared to HDMI, and the audio can't go through the stereo. To test out the full stereo+hdtv experience, buddy brought his PS3 over and hooked it up (via HDMI). Oh, dear, jesus. It's pretty sexy, however, it did hardlock on us in the 1 hour span we played NFS:C on it.

Anyways, today I have to meet up with a guy who's moving offices and needs his network setup in the new office. The upstream should be there today demarcating his line to his BIX wall, so then my fun begins of purchasing hardware and contracting out the cabling.

So, I'm gonna setup up an asterisk (asstricks, heh) PBX here at home. I found a decent provider that will peer with me via IAX2 and provide me a DID for hella cheap ($2.50/mo). There was two options for the DID ... pay per use ($2.50 + 1.1c/min/mo) or unlimited ($10/mo). Long distance for both is 1.1c/min for US50+Canada, and reasonable international rates. I figure I won't use 682 minutes a month, so the pay per use is better suited.

Now, I know the boys at fonality who produce trixbox (formerly Asterisk@Home), so I'm gonna give trixbox a shot and see what's up.

Basically, my aim is to create the most retarded IVR and have people laugh at it.

Press 1 for the bathroom, 2 for the kitchen, 3 for the cat's bed.

Just got home from the club. Surprising that there's still tons of people going out ... I thought it'd be pretty dead given the season, but I guess that's in store for next week.

Feet hurt, and are cold. I need heated socks or something for Christmas.

Aha! I'm still here. I know a bunch of you thought I had given up so soon. Alas, I'm still here.

Today I had to go out to the border to the Document and Exhibit Control office and get my friends Yamaha R1 that they seized (improperly) almost a year ago now I guess. I had a friend come across from Seattle with a truck to pick it up, but I had to be there to get it released. While they were trying to find it in the impound lot, I was standing in an uncovered area with no unbrella, getting pummeled by torrential downpour. My nice wool/cashmere peacoat weighed about 200lbs, being fully soaked with water.

Anyways, that was my fun for the day. Came home, watched Scrubs and The OC, got some dinner, now I'm contemplating bed. Exciting life I lead.

I just added a new section to my website ... it's not pretty, it's just meant to be a basic landing spot.
